On My Doorstep

Awhile back, on my doorstep arrived this little friend....

Silhouette Cameo A Modern Teacher
my new friend

Yes, the lovely people over at Silhouette America sent me my new little friend!!  And well, as friendships go there is a stage at the beginning when you get to know eachother.  After some attempts at getting it to work, I realized that my blade was not coming down...so I had to wait to play. :(

But last week, a new blade came in and although we are still going through a little get-to-know you stage....see if we click...I am really excited to share with you just a little something.

One of my friends, S., is getting married next weekend...S--if you are reading--STOP--don't read this :) She is a super close friend who teaches 2nd grade and well, I wanted to make her a little something.  As a teacher, you know we have our name everywhere.  Gotta label everything.  And now, her name is going to be changing (super cool!).  So, I wanted to make her a little banner with my cameo of her new name (don't worry the gift from Crate and Barrel is coming too-lol!).  Just a little something she can hang in the classroom.  Her colors for her wedding are a pretty purple and gray with some black and silver.  The invites were gor.geous!!

I bought some scrapbook paper and made this....

scalloped name banner A Modern Teacher
the letters are grey :)

A Modern Teacher

Just a little idea...no tutorials yet or anything.  Just not that comfortable with my new friend yet :)

Although, I already have a TON of ideas on how to use the cameo in the classroom.  And if we hear some chatter on these posts, maybe the lovely people at Silhouette America will send me one for a giveaway so you can use it in your classroom too.  You never know!

And Silhouette America has a teacher discount? So cool! 20% off many products (not all but many).  Check it out. I mean can you imagine how much easier our life would be if we didn't have to cut everything out ourselves? Sweet!

A big THANK YOU to Silhouette!

Have a great weekend friends!!

  2. We better start that chatter up because that would definitely be an awesome giveaway (not that the others weren't)! Love the banner, by the way! I am sure your bride-to-be friend will just love it!

  4. I got to play with the Silhouette at ISTE. It is amazing all the things you can do with it. I got to make a cute cross body bag with my name on it at the conference. There was a 45 minute wait just to play with it and they ran out of bags. I am extremely jealous that you get to have one to test out. Kevin and Amanda currently have a Silhouette package giveaway going on, so I am hopeful you will get one for a giveaway too. My birthday is Sunday, so if I don't win their giveaway....maybe my husband will let me get one.

  5. Yipee Skipee! Silhouettes beat Cricut any day. The things you can do with it are amazing. I think every school should have 5 of them. They would busy ALL the time. Can't wait to see what other great ideas you come up with.
