Astrobrights has done it again! Maybe you remember the post I shared back in March announcing a “Brightest Teacher” contest. And maybe you remember the winner announced in May.  Well, the winner, Markeda Brown, received a full classroom makeover.  Isn’t that amazing?! Today, I am sharing the classroom reveal.

Markeda Brown is a first grade teacher in Virginia. She was nominated by 3 different people. One person submitted:

“When you walk into Markeda’s classroom, brightness hits you in the face. Not only is her classroom a work of art due to her painstaking effort to cover every inch of wall with color, but her love of children and teaching shouts loud and clear. Markeda is the type of teacher that parents request by name. She’s the type of teacher that her principal calls whenever she needs something special, or an idea, or an ambassador. Markeda rolls up her sleeves and plays in the dirt with her students. On any random day, you’d walk in her classroom and find her on the floor drawing with students, or dancing with them, or helping her 1st graders recite MLK’s “I have a dream” speech verbatim. She was born to teach and lives her purpose out loud and in bright colors. Ask anyone at Patrick Henry Elementary which teacher lights up a room, and you’d here a unanimous “Ms. Brown.”

As you can tell, Markeda deserved every bit of this classroom makeover. And now…I am incredibly excited to share the classroom reveal.

Astrobrights Colorize Your Classroom

First of all, I do want to start off mentioning how honored I am to take part in the makeover.  We don’t get to do this too often as teachers, in this grand capacity, so I will always be grateful for the opportunity!  Thank you Astrobrights! I was in charge of selecting items for the “Teacher Area” as well as the “Writing Area”. Each one of us “Bright Minds” had a specific area to select items for and then Maria, from Kindercraze, spun her magic and pulled it all together in person.  Just wait until you see these before and after pictures.  First, here is the teacher area I selected items for:

As you can tell in this 2nd picture, the Astrobrights’ Team is hard at work printing and displaying.

I can’t tell you how excited I was to choose these items!  I was like a kid in a candy store.  Seriously! First of all, as a team we got some key information from Markeda. Logistical type of information.  Then, we asked her about her favorite colors. We came up with base colors of black and white and then pops of pink, turquoise, and purple. Here are the products (or similar products) we used.  Now, keep in mind the links below are affiliate links (an extremely small compensation I receive from sharing these products with you).  I only share what I think would *really* work in the classroom. Furthermore, this is not a sponsored post.

Wouldn’t you just love having the white file cabinet?  Oh ya!

Ok, here are the products:

*white file cabinet

*turquoise desk supplies (similar)

*desk chair (similar)

*floor lamp (similar)

*stacking boxes

*paper sorter (similar)

*writing utensil caddy

*trash can

The key to this classroom reveal is staying with the base colors of black and white and then keeping all containers which are placed in the same area, the same color.  That right there will bring cohesiveness and organization (even when it might get messy).
