Ah…the dreaded pencil problem. I think pencil sharpening is my biggest pet peeve. I did come up with a plan to have this as a classroom job and only sharpen before school started and at the end of the day but still…boy do those things drive a teacher crazy!
All summer, my husband and I have been working on our playroom. Everything has changed. From paint to furniture. Everything. I can’t wait to show it to you!! Just need to take some pictures. In the room, I really wanted to bring in something with texture (not just the plastic bins). So I decided to make these Rope-Wrapped Pencil Caddies. It took me about an hour and was super cheap (just the way I like it!).
–plain white rope (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby. 5 yards for about $1.00 for each can)
–dye kit if you would like to add some color (I bought mine at JoAnn’s for $6.00 with a 40% off coupon)
–labels (if you need them–I got mine from Schoolgirl Style -ocean theme)
1. Dye rope desired color (I went with a two color caddy. Since our playroom is red and aqua, I wanted to add those pops of color against our grey and white walls.)
2. Hot glue rope around can
3. Add Labels (I added a safety pin here but you could attach it with velco, clips, yarn, etc.)
That’s it! If you’ve been here for awhile you know my projects are super simple. I just don’t have time for anything complicated.
